Settling in & Happy Halloween

Ahh, feels good to finally get my desktop setup. And now that is here the new house is finally feeling like home. Still stuff still needing to come over like the bikes, snow blower, and mowers. I have noticed though this house is half the size it feels less cramped and more functional.

Also happy Halloween!

OH SHIT

We haven't had Trick-Or-Treaters since we moved to PA 10 years ago, the first community we lived in didn't allow it and the 2nd place was just to rural. This new community allows it between 5 - 8pm, so stocked up on candy and hope to see some people in cool & creative costumes out and about. Wish I was 12 again getting free candy, oh well least the day after Halloween all the candy is 75% - 85% which is almost as good :P

I am not into the whole party thing so this day has been just like any other day, but since this community is a bit more active with it I will probably get creative with the yard next year.

Every one have a fun Halloween!

Still Not Here

This has got to be the slowest move ever. Who rents a 10' U-Haul to move a 3 bed room 2200 square foot house? Lucky we have most of the big stuff over, my desktop isn't here yet so stuck on my laptop for now. I probably still be falling behind around here, hopefully I will have some time soon to get the bike restoration process post up.

Not Here

Sorry haven't been around in the past few days. With the closing on the new house drawing near packing has kicked into a extreme. On top of that I have been trying to sell some large items for my dad, such as his pool table and air hockey. Still don't see why everyone is rushing to get into the new house when we still have plenty of time before we actually have to be out of the current one. Not even going to have heat, hot water, or a stove till Monday when the propane tank shows up. But everybody is just so rush, rush, rush.

Ah well at least there will be Cable, Electric, and Water even if its cold.

Now time to catch up on some blogs.

Project Bike

Sorry I haven't been around, just been dealing with a lot of stuff to get ready for the new house. Closings on the 22nd!

So yea check it out this is my 1960 Harley Davidson Super-10:

Messy garage is messy, my dad and uncle got this thing in the early 80's. My dad bought his brothers half out then when I was born it became mine. So it basically sat around for 21 years till I got around to doing anything with it.

I Started working on it early this year and with a ton of help from my uncle (not the same one who owned part of the bike) and It is now at this point:

Its a big jump going from the orange to this gorgeous Seafoam Green / Vanilla Shake Scheme. I think it really gives the bike a great 50's - 60's look. I had no budget to get things re-chromed so everything is painted. Except for the spokes which are all brand new.

Everything is on hold till after the move, there is still work to be done but it is closer to the finish then beginning.

If anyone is interested in seeing the work to get to this point let me know, I have pics of most of the process and can have a post up in the next few days.

So Long To A Century

Sold! $750

Today I just sold my 93' Buick Century, after almost 3 years with it I had to let it go. It is now some young girls first car hopefully she can get a few years out of it to. I was the 8th owner of the car and the 1st one not to live in NY, payed $1100. It had its quirks but for the most part reliable, and easy to maintain. Actually only put about 10,000 miles on it, and when it left the tag place it had 116,800 on the odometer.

And now with the extra cash I can use part of it to get a decent set of tires on my van. Also one less car to pay insurance on. It only took 3 days using craigslist only!

Yard Sale Run!

So my mom, uncle, and I went running around yard sales and thrift shops today and picked up some stuff. The first yard sale was down a long unpaved  road that was full of pot holes, It amazes me people build such large nice homes on roads like this. There we found a nice couple that was clearing out their garage, we picked up a 2 dresser set with night stand for $25, twin and Full size beds for another $25. Good Start

The 2nd yard sale was suppose to be a 3 family sale but there wasn't much to be seen. We did how ever find a hard boiled egg peeler for $1 it looks like it was never used, so that was $1 spent to satisfy curiosit.

The 3rd sale we made out a little better 2 nice black lamps for $4, 2 vases for $2, a Swingline stapler for $1, a decorative glass ball for 50 cents. And my purchase of 8 SNES games for $8

To buy one you had to buy them all but Chrono Trigger and Super Castlevania IV was worth the price alone.

The 4th sale we picked up a new onion blossom cutter for $1 and a heart shaped vase for $8 (Too Much!)

Finally we stopped in to a thrift store and picked up a NES Satellite and VirtualBoy for a total of $17.

The NES Satellite is cool because it allows you a bit more freedom on how far you can sit back from the T.V. and if it works as well as my single IR contoller I have for my NES it should be awesome.

Ah, yes the VirtualBoy in my eyes the only true failed Nintendo system. It was cheap and came with everything except the stand. Unfortunately I didn't test it in the store, once I got it home and popped the Mario Tennis game it came with it in, I got sound but ether messed up video or none at all. Which may be just the cables going to each screen because apparently its a common problem.

Got to get the right tool or try the pen trick to get the infamous Nintendo Security screws out, the cable fix seems simple enough once you get the system open.

So over all it was a good day!

Odds & Ends 3

I have been busy prepping my car to be sold. Just gave it a oil change, a good washing and vacuuming. It is a 93' Buick Century and any money I get from it is going strait into my van. Its going up on craigslist in the morning. I have had great luck with craigslist, successfully sold a beat to hell boat and old computer gear in the past.

And now for another Aurthur's apartment treasure.

It's not really much just a golden plaster cobra, but it looks bad ass sitting above my bed. He had a lot of fake rubber snakes around the apartment, but this plaster one was just sitting on a table next to the couch. As soon as I seen it I knew I had to have it. He is a bit beat up and missing an eye, but I think it adds a bit of character.

Odds & Ends 2

Between the comments of the my last post and people I have talked to, my mystery knobs and switches box is more then likely a home brew lighting controller. And yea It would probably make a excellent airport freak out device, especially if had a battery strapped to it with the lights on.

For Odds & Ends 2 I present this wooden box and its contents:

I found this box when I was helping my grandparents clean out my grandmothers cousin's apartment after he past away. We threw out tons of stuff, but there were a few things that I thought would be a shame to toss. The man seen the world and was a WWII vet, he even had some news papers with the attack of pearl harbor on the front page. I saved this box because I thought it was interesting, not sure what it was originally for and I have no idea what is written on it. As far as what was in the box when I found it the shrapnel always interested me the most. He received a purple heart, and I cant help but think that's the chunks of metal that helped him earn it.

I have been told that the little figurine is of a Pope and was carried by french solders in WWII, there where 2 of them but I gave one to my cousin.

Odds & Ends

So, I like collecting odd, cool, and useless things. I also like showing people these things. And it just so happens that I have a blog that that seems to be a free for all of what ever I feel like posting.
So yea the next few posts will probably focus on that.

For Odds & Ends part 1 I present what ever the hell this thing is:

I have honestly no idea what this thing is, I have had people tell me is part of a old PA system, Stage Lighting  Controller, and the main control unit to a time machine I have yet to invent. The only reason I have it is it was free and DEM SWITCHES AND KNOBS! I am not really sure what I can do with it, and it may be passed on to other person that can use it or has a apparent switch & knob fetish like I, before the move.

I would love to hear what you guys think it is, or some ideas on what to do with it.

Also thanks for the "Get Well" comments and advice they are much appreciated. Popped a Mucinex D and it cleared the congestion right up, seems like it's the only thing that works for me. Just a bit floaty with a slight sore throat now.

Birthdays

Me and my dad went down to NJ to day to hang out with my grandparents for my grandfathers 71st birthday. Hes a awesome but stubborn guy, always willing to help if he can have a say in whats going on. No party but he didn't know we where coming down, so he had a happy surprise. We just hung out and went to lunch, and enjoyed each others company.

Him and my grandmother actually just celebrated there 50th wedding anniversary about month ago, we through a big party. It was supposed to be a surprise but the only way he was going to get out of his chair and drive over was to tell him. Still they had a great time and so did everyone else.

Also on a side note I am feeling better then yesterday, still not great but better. I think its a sinus thing, I have always had problems with my sinuses.

Not So Hot

Not feeling the best right now, It's that felling you get the day before you go full blown sick.
My heads all fuzzy, eyes are heavy, and have a squeezing feeling in my throat.

Really don't have much to say right now, so here are some pics of the writing on the wall in line for The Colbert Report. Sorry for the quality, it was getting dark and my phone doesn't have a very good flash.  I wish I had a marker.
